The Mindful Space is run by Maureen Treanor. Maureen is a psychotherapists who specialises in mindfulness based approaches. She is dedicated to helping people bring a greater sense of calm and health to body, mind and spirit.
Maureen Treanor M.A. is a mindfulness based Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Educator. She has over twenty years experience of working therapeutically with people in the area of support transformation and change. She has benefited from and valued silence, stillness and contemplation in her life and work for many years. Maureen has trained extensively; she holds an honours degree in Psychology and Theology, post-graduate diploma in Systemic Psychotherapy, masters degree in Supervisory Practice.
Maureen has been certified to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction / Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy by the Institute of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (Germany), having completed the first Irish training in 2010. Since then she has continued her professional development with personal mindfulness retreats, supervision of her practice and further professional training in the United States with The Centre for Mindful Eating, in the UK, with Action on Addiction in Mindful Based Relapse Prevention and the Centre for Mindfulness University of Bangor in using mindfulness in one to one work, and using mindfulness with young people .b Mindfulness in School Programme in Oxford University
As a Supervisor Maureen is very aware of best practice and she adheres to the Good Practice Guidelines of the UK Network of Mindfulness Teachers she is currently involved in setting up The Irish Network of Mindfulness Teachers.
Having worked for many years as a retreat director and group facilitator Maureen brings a wealth of experience and commitment to all aspects of her work. She has led MBSR / MBCT programmes in a variety of settings including All Hallows College, Emmaus Conference Centre, Lois Bridges Eating Disorder Clinic, Ait Linn Alcohol Treatment Centre, she has facilitated shorter programmes and days of mindfulness for many groups including Bank of America, Kerry Dioceses, Beginning Experience, Alcohol & Addiction Counsellors. She is co founder of Malahide Mindfulness group and founder and director of Martello Counselling, Portmarnock.
